The inclusion criteria were 1) Mini Mental State Examination-Korea version score =24 points; 2) ability to walk independently for =10 m; 3) Modified Ashworth Scale scores of 0–2; 4) neurological injury creating a requirement for a AFO; 5) excessive plantar ?exion during the stance phase associated with genu recurvatum; and 6) a diagnosis of hemiplegia caused by a stroke at least 6 months prior.
The exclusion criteria were 1) severe ankle joint contracture (>5° of ankle plantar flexion) and/or 2) a neurological or orthopedic disease causing other motor disabilities.
