Inclusion Criteria
Physician-diagnosed COPD
- Hospitalisation with a primary diagnosis of an acute exacerbation of COPD, max. 72h prior to inclusion
or:
- Hospitalisation due to primary diagnosis of pneumonia with concurrent diagnosis of an acute exacerbation of COPD , max. 72h prior to inclusion
- Min. 10 Pack years
- Written informed consent
Exclusion Criteria
- Life expectancy < 6 months
- Patients with a palliative treatment goal
- High likelihood of lethal outcome within 72h

Name Time Method - Length of hospitalisation<br>- Complications during hospitalisation (e.g. admission to intensive care, need for increased respiratory support)<br>- Differences in clinical and laboratory parameters between patients responding to treatment vs. those who do not<br>- Readmission rates within 30 days<br>- Newly required or increased need for longterm supplemental oxygen<br>- Change in spirometry results pre / post exacerbation (90 ± 7 days after hospital admission)<br>- Changes in CAT scores and mMRC scores between the visit dates<br>- Change in maintenance therapy
