Inclusion Criteria

  • 1. Parent or guardian is willing and able to give informed consent for participation in the study.
  • 2. Male or Female, aged 0 to 5 years
  • 3. Presenting to a GP practice or out-of-hours service with an acute illness of a maximum of 14
  • days duration
  • Inclusion criteria for qualitative interviews:
  • 1. Recruited to main study
  • 2. Able to conduct a telephone interview in English

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1. Acute trauma
  • 2. Clinically unstable warranting immediate care
  • 3. Prior inclusion in the study
  • 4. Unable to understand trial material in English
