All neonates at risk of developing sepsis admitted for 48 hours and beyond at the NICU of Kasturba Medical college Manipal between the year 2021-2022.
At-risk neonates for Healthcare-associated infections include neonates with
1. Birth weight <2500 gms
2. Preterm neonates
3. Neonates on Mechanical ventilation
4. Neonates undergoing surgical intervention
• Neonates not born at Kasturba Hospital who have been given antibiotics prior to admission.
• Neonates admitted with features of neonatal sepsis.
• Neonates with Early-onset sepsis. ( < 72 hours of birth)
• Neonates with sepsis associated with IEM
• Neonates with Downâ??s syndrome and other genetic disorders which can present with altered lab parameters.
