Periodontitis patient Stage II Periodontitis
Stage III Periodontitis with or without Type 2 DM
Patients with a minimum number of 14 natural teeth.
Patients who are ready to give informed consent and willing to undergo treatment and follow-ups
1. History of Type I diabetes mellitus in both groups and Type II DM in Group 2
2. Sites with vertical bone defects, furcation defects
3. History of other known systemic diseases like hypertension, human immuno-deficiency virus, bone disorders, immunosuppressive therapy, radiation therapy, cancer or blood disorders
4. Patients on medications known to affect the outcomes of periodontal therapy
5. Patients who have undergone periodontal therapy in the preceding 6 months
6. Patients who have undergone antibiotic therapy preceding 6 months
7. Faulty tooth-brushing technique
8. Pregnant or lactating mothers
9. Use of tobacco in any form
