Ageing well: Effect of a social participation and engagement tool on community participation and quality of life among community aged care clients

This project aimed to administer both the Australian Community Participation Questionnaire (ACPQ) and the ICEpop CAPability Measure for Older Adults (ICECAP-O) to community aged care consumers of the largest aged care provider in NSW (Uniting) to: 1. Ascertain the levels of social participation and engagement, and quality of life 2. Utilise the findings to design and implement strategies (e.g., feedback, staff training, consumer choice options) to improve social participation 3. Measure the association between the delivery of community aged care services, social participation and quality of life 4. Establish an information infrastructure which can be used to maintain continuous quality improvement of services The major project outcomes and outputs include: - Development of profiles of client wellbeing and social participation in community care - Implementation of electronic versions of the tools to assist staff - Gained an understanding of the barriers, benefits and potential improvements associated with tool administration from both Uniting staff and client perspectives - Development, testing and implementation of translated versions of both tools, ACPQ and ICECAP-O, into Turkish, Mandarin and Korean
