Inclusion Criteria

(1) first stroke diagnosed by a neurologist
(2) stroke onset between 1 and 3 months
(3) fair upper limb manual muscle test findings.

Exclusion Criteria

(1) other neurologic diseases, such as degenerative diseases
(2) severe sensory deficits
(3) severe aphasia and severe neglect
(4) severe spasticity (contracture).
