Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Women and men (\> 65 years) with mild AD (MMST \= 20\)
  • \- Women and men (\> 65 years) with MCI and a pathological CSF profile (Aß1\-42 decreased, tau protein increased)
  • \- Women and men (\> 65 years) as healthy control subjects (MMST\> 27\)
  • \- Obtained consent and information ability
  • \- Willingness to take swabs of the oral mucosa and gums

Exclusion Criteria

  • \- Acute infections of the upper respiratory tract
  • \- Known acute inflammations in the oral cavity (e.g. stomatitis)
  • \- Serious physical illnesses with impairment of the general condition, fever or current weight loss of more than 2 kg in the past four weeks, palliative life situation
  • \- Malnutrition (body mass index below 18\.5 kg / m2\)
  • \- Other neurological diseases (stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease) or severe psychiatric comorbidities such as an addiction disorder or schizophrenic psychosis
  • \- Potentially reversible causes of cognitive deficits (e.g. vitamin B12 deficiency)
