Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •Women and men (\> 65 years) with mild AD (MMST \= 20\)
- •\- Women and men (\> 65 years) with MCI and a pathological CSF profile (Aß1\-42 decreased, tau protein increased)
- •\- Women and men (\> 65 years) as healthy control subjects (MMST\> 27\)
- •\- Obtained consent and information ability
- •\- Willingness to take swabs of the oral mucosa and gums
Exclusion Criteria
- •\- Acute infections of the upper respiratory tract
- •\- Known acute inflammations in the oral cavity (e.g. stomatitis)
- •\- Serious physical illnesses with impairment of the general condition, fever or current weight loss of more than 2 kg in the past four weeks, palliative life situation
- •\- Malnutrition (body mass index below 18\.5 kg / m2\)
- •\- Other neurological diseases (stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease) or severe psychiatric comorbidities such as an addiction disorder or schizophrenic psychosis
- •\- Potentially reversible causes of cognitive deficits (e.g. vitamin B12 deficiency)
