Inclusion criteria of the study includes patients of both gender belonging to both rural and urban regions, with age being 18 years and above with following features,
1. Acute febrile illness with clinical suspicion of dengue fever
2. Seropositive for dengue fever, either NS1 antigen or IgM antibody
Following is the exclusion criteria for the study;
1. Patients with known conditions that can cause electrolyte disturbances
2. Patients with preexisting renal and hepatic diseases
3. Patients who received electrolyte supplementation prior to sodium estimation
4. Patients on diuretics
5. Patients with dual infections
