简要总结

AIM OF THE STUDY

To study the correlation between scapular and core muscle endurance in healthy young adults.

OBJECTIVE

•To find out the relationship between Scapular endurance test and trunk flexor endurance test in healthy young adults.

•To find out the relationship between Scapular endurance test and trunk extensor endurance test in healthy young adults.

•To find out the relationship between Scapular endurance test with side bridge test in healthy young adults.

NEED OF STUDY

•Core muscles are important because they stabilize the center of the body.

•Due to wrong sitting posture/pattern of students the direct effect of back pain & scapular stabilization the correlation can reduce the risk of abnormalities & weakness.

•Core muscles stabilizers are activated before movement of upper or lower limbs begins, therefore, it might be possible that shoulder pathology is related to core stabilization or core pathology is related to shoulder movement.

•When scapular stabilization is impaired and when the endurance of core muscles is decreased, an increase in risk of injury.

•Better core stability has been proven to promote efficient body mechanics, allowing the person to maximize force production while minimizing loads placed on proximal joints.

•Having a strong, stable core helps us to prevent injuries & allows us to perform at our best.

•Increased scapular and core muscle endurance is known to reduce the risk of injury and improve performance.

•The core involves many different muscles which stabilize the shoulders, the pelvis and the spine and provides a base for movement in the extremities.

•Superficial posterior oblique system includes the latissimus dorsi, Gluteus Maximus and intervening thoracolumbar fascia.

•Core muscles are essential for proper load balance within the spine, pelvis & kinetic chain.

PROCEDURE

All the subjects provided their informed consent.

Serratus anterior and trapezius muscle endurance was measured by the scapular muscle endurance test and the results were recorded as seconds.

subject was positioned in prone lying and shoulder was placed passively 135 degrees of abduction, weight cuff (1% of subjects body weight) was tied just superior to elbow.

subjects were asked to raise the arm upwards to hold there for as long as possible.

CORE MUSCLE ENDURANCE TEST

Trunk flexor endurance test: subjects were asked to maintain 60 degree of trunk flexion, knees and hips were flexed 90 degree, arms crossed over chest. maintain this position as long as possible.

Trunk extensor endurance test: prone lying position on the examination table. the pelvis, hip and knees of the subjects were fixed to the treatment table up to the ASIS with straps.

subjects tried to maintain the horizontal body position as long as possible with their arms crossed position on the chest.

Side bridge test: side lying position. the subject knees and feet were extended position and placed on top of each other. maintain this position.
