From the recent past, scientific and neuro-scientific studies have found out and documented various influences of music on human body and mind. This potential of music later led to its scientific application in the form of music therapy particularly in psychological or mental health related problems. Music distraction is considered to be an efficient relaxation practice. It is considered safe and inexpensive, which can help during short and painful dental procedures. There are many studies conducted to see the effect of music on anxiety this could be the first study wherein we will be comparing the effects of two differentIndian instrumental music on relieving preoperative dental anxiety.
Study titled ‘**Effect of Indian Music using two different instruments on relieving dental anxiety among patients aged 18 years and above in Mangaluru- A Prospective Study.**’ will be conducted in Department of Public health dentistry, Yenepoya Dental College, from October 2024 to December 2024. Participants included in the study will be patients visiting Yenepoya dental college for dental treatment (who will be equally divided into Flute music group and Sitar music and third group will be the control). Indian instrumental music (Flute music ,Sitar music) will be used as an intervention in the first two groups. Prior to the experiment, participants of all three groups will be asked to fill Modified Corah’s Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS), to assess the dental anxiety. The post operative questionnaire will be administered to the participants at the end of the treatment

入选标准
- •Participant aged 18 years and above.
- •Participant who will be undergoing dental treatment for the first time.
排除标准
- •Participants with sensory processing disorders, musculoskeletal disorders and recent ear surgery.
- •Participants under permanent drug treatments such as antihistamines, antidepressants and anticholinergics.
- •Participants whose initial anxiety scores are very high will be excluded from the study.
