- Brief Summary
**"Correlation between strength and balance of quadriceps muscles in healthy individuals versus individuals with genu recurvatum: A cross-sectional Study"**
**ABSTRACT**
**BACKGROUND:** Genu recurvatum is characterized by hyperextension of knee or back knee. It leads to disability in quadriceps muscle strength and balance of individuals. Maintaining muscular strength and improved balance make it easier to do daily activities and prevent many conditions. There had never been any evidence of an interconnection between strength and balance in individuals with genu recurvatum.
**PURPOSE OF THE STUDY:** Quadriceps muscle strength and balance are compromised following recurvatum. As the study aims to find correlation between strength and balance between healthy individuals versus individuals with genu recurvatum. The results obtained from the proposed study can lead to development of strategies focusing on improving the same.
**STUDY DESIGN:** Cross-sectional study
**METHODOLOGY:** Based on inclusion criteria 64 number of subjects will be taken, they will examine for the following outcomes 1) Isokinetic dynamometer 2) Y Balance test 3) Goniometry
**DISCUSSION:** Quadriceps muscle weakness is one of the factors that can cause genu recurvatum. The proposed study will compare strength and balance of quadriceps muscle in healthy individuals versus individuals with genu recurvatum. The study will correlate and focus on improvement of these factors.
**KEYWORDS:** Balance, Muscle, Muscular strength, Knee hyperextension
**ETHICAL CLEARANCE:** Ethical approval will be obtained from Institutional Ethical Committee of Maharishi Markandeshwar Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, Mullana, Ambala, Haryana and will be done in accordance with Helsinki Declaration revised in 2013 and National Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research involving Human Participants, 2017
