The sample will consist of healthy; university students; of both sexes; aged 18 and 40; who will be recruited on São Cristóvão campus of Federal University of Sergipe; through personal contacts with them on campus facilities and dissemination by email; irregularly active; and have not performed resistance training of the muscles of the upper limbs for two months prior to the survey. The short version of the international physical activity questionnaire (IPAQ), validated in portuguese, will be used to ensure the eligibility of the sample.
They have any musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, neurological or systemic disorder that can be exacerbated by strenuous exercise (eg, recent injury; chronic pain; heart disease). Potential medical contraindications for the study of exercise protocol will be further evaluated using a questionnaire prepared by the author, based on the physical activity readiness questionnaire (PAR-Q, 2011). The subjects who have had some experience with TENS or any contraindication to prevent the use of electrical stimulation, such as allergy to the material of the electrodes; cardiac pacemaker use; pregnancy; epilepsy; altered skin conditions or loss of feeling in areas established for electrode placement.
