Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •1\) Children \= 12 years of age who are undergoing an operation under general anaesthesia for medical reasons, during which continuous monitoring of body temperature is carried out.
- •2\) Informed consent has been obtained from the patient's legal guardian with the involvement of the patient.
- •3\) Planned operation time of \= 30 minutes
Exclusion Criteria
- •1\) Refusal of participation in the examination by guardians and/or children.
- •2\) Known diseases, deformities or traumas of the nasopharynx or upper respiratory tract.
- •3\) Recent or planned surgery to the nasopharynx or oesophagus.
- •4\) Recent epistaxis requiring treatment.
- •5\) History of severe coagulopathy
- •6\) Therapeutic anticoagulation
- •7\) Contraindications to oesophageal temperature measurement, e.g. oesophageal varices or fistulas.
