Inclusion Criteria
- •1) Children = 12 years of age who are undergoing an operation under general anaesthesia for medical reasons, during which continuous monitoring of body temperature is carried out.
- •2) Informed consent has been obtained from the patient's legal guardian with the involvement of the patient.
- •3) Planned operation time of = 30 minutes
Exclusion Criteria
- •1) Refusal of participation in the examination by guardians and/or children.
- •2) Known diseases, deformities or traumas of the nasopharynx or upper respiratory tract.
- •3) Recent or planned surgery to the nasopharynx or oesophagus.
- •4) Recent epistaxis requiring treatment.
- •5) History of severe coagulopathy
- •6) Therapeutic anticoagulation
- •7) Contraindications to oesophageal temperature measurement, e.g. oesophageal varices or fistulas.
