Brief Summary

This is a Cross-sectional study (Hospital Based) conducted at Ayothidoss Pandithar Hospital, National Institute of Siddha, Thambaram Sanatorium, Chennai 47. 100 heart patients who are belong to the age of 14- 80 years were included by checking their healthrecords such as ECG, Echocardiogram and Angiogram. The evaluation was based on the questionnaire about patient’s personalhistory, such as food habits, level of stress, sleep rhythm, exercise, disease history, family history, occupational history and socioeconomic status and also by checking their medical records such as ECG, Echocardiogram and Angiogram. It was approved with theNIS/IEC/2018/1, 07-05-2018 and analysed using STATA.

Out of 100 patients61% of people come under the agecategory of 51-70, and about 71% are males. 47% ofpatients has normal BMI, 97% of them are married.30% of patients are in desk work is the trending patternof occupation.Another significant finding is 55% of patients are middle class, 85% are non-vegetarians. 56% members notgo for outside food, 55% patients doing exercise regularly. The percentage of people used to smoke, drinkingalcohol having drugs are low that is 16% and 13% respectively. Sleeping disturbance commonly seen in65% of peoples. After checking the disease histories55% are diabetic, 39% are hypertensive, 31% are hyperlipidemia and 43% are obese. We can find 5% Peopleshaving congenital heart disease and 27% with hereditary pattern. Among different types of heart ailmentscoronary heart disease occurs with maximum number of88%. During the period of 2017-2018 there are 29% ofpatients develops heart ailment. Out of 88 Coronary Artery Disease patients 54 areDiabetic, 38 are Hypertensive, 29 are Hyperlipidaemia,41 are obese, and 74 are non-vegetarian. Out of 100% of patients analysed there is only onepatient each in vegetarian and non-vegetarian havingCoronary Artery Disease without any past history ofdiabetic, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, obesity andwithout the habit of alcoholic, smoking and drug abuse,the both patients are keep doing exercise regularly( table 3). By analysing ECG ST-T changes is 22% andT wave elevation or depression is 40%. In this studyinferior wall MI is more than other walls of heart that is33.3%. In angiogram LAD is more blocked (76.19%).100% blocks are marked in RAC.

In this study we can find patients are seeking treatmentin siddha system for their heart ailment, in which moreare males. Heart ailment is not only occurring throughone habit or life style, one disease history likes diabetesor hypertension or hyperlipidemia but it is a result ofcombined history of that patient. We just try to avoidgetting more weight and rid of diabetes mellitus. Mostof the patients are find out their heart problem recentlyand they are come to this hospital for avoiding surgeryand lifelong medication.
