1)ASA Grade I & II patients undergoing elective surgery
2)Age- 18 to 65 years
3)Expected duration of surgery <3 hours
4)Airway- Mallampati Grade 1 & 2
1)Patients not willing to give consent
2)Patients with sore throat, cold, gastroesophageal reflux, regurgitation
3)Patients with anticipated difficult airway
4)Patients with oral/oro-pharyngeal/laryngeal pathology for which the current surgery is planned or airway surgeries
5)Patients on steroid therapy
6)Surgery lasting for > 3 hours
7)Patients requiring second laryngoscopy for nasogastric tube insertion or throat packing or unanticipated difficult airway
8)Patients who remain intubated/require re-intubation post surgery
9)Recent history of surgery under general anaesthesia/airway instrumentation
10)Patients in whom extubation provokes extreme degree of coughing/bucking on tube
11)Patients requiring flexometallic tubes
12)Patients in prone position
