Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\.Newly diagnosed patients (age 18 years or above) with clinic\-radiological diagnosis of locally advanced, unresectable or metastatic oesophageal cancer.
  • 2\.Patients assessed in Thoracic Oncology Clinic and not referred to Palliative Medicine
  • 3\. Patient must have a caregiver.
  • 4\. Able to give informed consent for questionnaire administration and willing to participate.
  • 5\.Able to communicate and understand English/Hindi/Marathi.
  • 1\. Adults (aged 18 years or over) identified by the patient as the person closest to them (family member/ close friend).
  • 2\. Able to give informed consent to complete the questionnaires.

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\. Patients having pre\-existing psychiatric disorder or cognitive impairment preventing patients from comprehending questionnaire.
  • 2\. Patients with unstable medical condition requiring any emergency treatment.
  • 3\. Patients unable to express their views even with communication aids.
  • 4\.Patients already referred to Palliative Medicine Department.
