简要总结
Upper body dynamic balance and stability are essential for best performance in a variety of sports. Upper-body stability improves performance and lowers the risk of injury by allowing athletes to maintain control of their movements and postures during dynamic exercises. Badminton involves rapid, multidirectional motions, quick reflexes, and a high level of shoulder and upper body strength. Players routinely perform overhead smashes, drop shots and defensive blocks that necessitate dynamic upper-body balance. Cricket players, particularly bowlers and fielders, require a high level of upper-body stability in order to throw, catch and bowl well. The repetitive nature of these activities puts severe strain on the shoulder and upper body muscles. The upper quarter Y- balance test is a functional test that measures an individual’s upper body balance and stability. The test is an accurate indicator of shoulder mobility, core stability and upper extremity strength. Comparing upper quarter Y- balance test performance between badminton and cricket players may provide insights into sport-specific demands and assist in the development of customised training programmes to improve performance and prevent injuries.
The primary objective of the study is to establish normative value of the upper quarter Y- balance test performance in badminton and cricket players. Secondary objective of the study is to compare the test values of badminton and cricket players on the basis of gender. Tertiary objective is to establish test re-test reliability of the test.
