简要总结

Healthy long life is the basic need of the human being to achieve all the human pursuit viz., dharma (virtuous act) artha (prosperity), kama (desire) and moksha (salvation). Whereas the modern science denotes that health is the fundamental right and supper most aim is to lead social and economical productive life.

India is in the midst of epidemiological changeover. According to estimates of various global and domestic organizations Health reports and the findings of a white paper released by the Confederation of Indian Industry and academia there is an increase of life-style diseases in India, one out of four Indians is at risk of dying from non-communicable diseases like diabetes, cardio-vascular ailments or cancer before the age of 70. Every year, roughly 5.8 million Indians die from heart and lung diseases, stroke, cancer and diabetes. In other words, 1 in 4 Indians risks dying from an NCD. Prevalence of NCDs is a result of lifestyle patterns which have changed significantly over the last decade. NCD’s cause significant morbidity and mortality in urban and rural population with considerable loss in the potentially productive years of the life. 2002 reports of major global organizations including World Health Organisation and other agencies of the United Nations marks that cardiovascular disease (CVD) will be major cause of death and disability in India by 2020.

The major NCD’s which are occurred due to changing lifestyle and eating habits which can be prevented by adopting the healthy lifestyle. In other way outbreak of the NCD related to lifestyle is very less in India compared to other developing countries, may be because of acceptance of the traditional and conventional way of life mentioned in the ancient texts under the heading of Dinacharya in Samhita’s , Veda, Purana, Smriti etc.

Need of the Study:

Preservation and promotion of the health along with prevention and management of ailments are primary and secondary aim of Ayurveda  respectively. Tools elaborated for the purpose of preservation and promotion in Ayurveda  is to accept the principles which are mentioned in the context of Swasthavritta. Principles are those which are supposed to be accepted or followed as it is advised/ mentioned. Advancement of technology was at low level during the ancient times that may be the reason why people of ancient time use to adopt the principles elaborated in the context of dinachary systematically and use to earn their livelihood by working in day time. But the present scenario is somewhat different and contrasts to the past situation. People because of escalating advancement in the technology people are adopting the varied lifestyle according to their need and even because of familial commitment, responsibilities, monetary pursuit even they are under the circumstance to accept the working lifestyle as per the employer. By these things people of present era are not able to adopt the principles all together systematically. Some people follow few of the modalities where as some people are not at all following, because of circumstances like night shift.

This is one of the reason, why we have to modulate the dinachary  principles according to the need of the individual and its circumstance. Ayurveda  classic advocate certain suggestions directly as a modification for most of the dinachary  procedure and even the indication/contraindication mentioned for every dinachary  procedure may also helps to adopt the modification accordingly. Modification advised by the Acharya’s was not under the single platform; knowledge is extensively dispersed among the brihatraya and laghutraya including the respective commentaries. In this literary research attempt will be made to collect and critically review all those suggestive modification and also attempt will be made to develop the possible modified dinachary a protocol according to the need of an individual.
