Asthmatic patients aged greater than 13 years, with no upper limit and of both sexes, diagnosed with asthma according to the criteria of the GINA (Global Initiative for Asthma), moderate or severe asthma,that is, with lower FEV1 50 %.
Excluded patients with a body temperature greater than or equal 37,8º; smoking; pregnant women; patients in psychiatric treatment or with a history of heart disease, liver, kidney or other diseases that prevent the use of corticosteroids; patients in the postoperative pulmonary resection in treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis or fungal infection, tracheostomy or mechanical obstruction of the trachea. Patients with myopathy or neurological sequelae (stroke or encephalopathy) that prevent the implementation of the measures necessary for the study.
