Microsteps Study-Short, Animated Storytelling Video
- Conditions
- Behavior, Health
- Registration Number
- NCT06967337
- Lead Sponsor
- Stanford University
- Brief Summary
This study evaluates the effect of single exposure to written Microsteps messages, and short video booster content, on behavioral expectation to adopt behavioral nudges, immediately after exposure, as well as self-reported behavioral adoption of those nudges, two weeks later. Beyond that, the study will examine post-exposure hope and happiness as well as voluntary post-trial engagement with the health messages. This study will be conducted entirely online. Adult participants, living in the US and the UK, will be recruited through the platform Prolific Academic (ProA).

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Immediate effects of the written Microsteps, with and without the booster video, on behavioral expectation to adopt behavioral nudges Baseline, immediately post-intervention exposure (up to 24 hours) This measure is intended to explore the immediate effect on behavioral expectation to adopt the Microsteps of both the written messages alone and the written messages with the video booster. The Microsteps questionnaire consists of 12 questions, each measured on a Likert scale from 1-5 where 1 = very unlikely and 5 = very likely.
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Medium-term effects of the written Microsteps, with and without the booster video, on adoption of the behavioral nudges Immediately post exposure (up to 24 hours), and 2 weeks post intervention exposure Participants self report the medium-term effects of the written Microsteps, with and without the booster video, on adoption of the behavioral nudges. The Microsteps questionnaire consists of 12 questions, each measured on a Likert scale from 1-5 where 1 = very unlikely and 5 = very likely.
Change in Levels of Hope using visual analogue scale (VAS) Baseline, immediately post intervention exposure (upto 24 hours) and 2 weeks post intervention exposure Participants self-report levels of hope using a visual analogue scale (VAS), a longstanding, validated tool for assessing related constructs of stress and subjective well-being.The scale goes from zero to 100 and higher scores indicate higher levels of hope.
Change in Levels of happiness scale score using VAS Baseline, immediately post intervention exposure (upto 24 hours) and 2 weeks post intervention exposure Participants self-report levels of happiness on VAS, a longstanding, validated tool for assessing related constructs of stress and subjective well-being
