Fatigue and burnout have emerged as significant psychosocial concerns among young collegiate adults, driven by academic pressure, lack of physical activity, disrupted sleep patterns, and social stressors (Márquez et al., 2020). Fatigue is defined as a persistent state of physical and mental exhaustion that impairs daily functioning, while burnout is characterized by emotional exhaustion, reduced personal accomplishment, and depersonalization (Maslach & Leiter, 2016). The growing prevalence of these conditions in university students has led to increased interest in non-pharmacological and holistic interventions aimed at enhancing physical and mental well-being.
Brain Gym is a movement-based educational program that includes a series of simple exercises designed to improve cognitive functions such as focus, memory, coordination, and emotional regulation (Dennison & Dennison, 1989). These exercises are theorized to integrate brain hemispheres and stimulate neural pathways, thereby enhancing energy levels and reducing psychological stress. Preliminary studies suggest that Brain Gym activities may positively impact academic performance, mood, and stress levels (Rege et al., 2021), though empirical validation in the context of fatigue and burnout in collegiate populations remains limited.
Aim: This study aims to find out the effect of Brain Gym exercises on levels of fatigue and burnout in young collegiate adults.
Need for study: Despite the popularity of Brain Gym exercises in educational and therapeutic contexts, the evidence supporting their impact on fatigue and burnout is largely anecdotal or derived from studies with methodological limitations. Most existing research focuses on children or individuals with learning difficulties, with limited randomized controlled trials assessing its effectiveness among healthy young adults (Thomas & Thomas, 2018). Furthermore, there is a dearth of rigorous, outcome-based research targeting fatigue and burnout specifically within collegiate populations, who are at a heightened risk of these conditions due to lifestyle and academic stressors (Zhao et al., 2022).
Objectives: To determine the effect of Brain Gym exercises on levels of fatigue and burnout in young collegiate adults.
HYPOTHESIS
Alternative hypothesis: There will be a significant effect of Brain Gym exercises on levels of fatigue and burnout in young collegiate adults.
Null hypothesis: There will be no significant effect of Brain Gym exercises on levels of fatigue and burnout in young collegiate adults.

入选标准
- •Both male and female Participants must be collegiate young adults aged between 18 and 25 years.
- •BMI: 18.5 to 24.9 Must be currently enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at a recognized university or college.
- •Must be willing to provide informed consent and commit to the full duration of the intervention on and evaluation process.
排除标准
- •Any history of trauma, fracture, or surgery past 6 months.
- •Any history of neurological disorder—stroke, and traumatic brain injury (TBI) past 6 months.
- •Any orthopedic disorder and deformities involving the lumbar spine, pelvis, and lower extremities past 6 months.
- •History of doing Brain GYM past 6 months.
- •Any history of migraine headache or diagnosed with a psychological condition, or having a history of neurosurgery or cognitive damage, or psychotropic medication.
