Primary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
The aim is to investigate the effect of different contexts on the subjective perception of alcohol-related and neutral images, as well as the emergence of attention distortion towards alcohol-related images within a group of social drinkers (within-subject design). Out of that a better understanding of the basis of these reactions should be captivate in order to work out which contexts can enhance drinking behavior.
Secondary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
It is expected that the relationships between the subjective perception of alcohol-associated and neutral image stimuli with objective measures of eye movement (fixation, pupil size, saccades) to specific stimulus characteristics (spatial context, social aspect) and the time course of attention directed to these stimuli can be better characterized. By identifying the mechanisms that have a specific influence on the emergence of attention-focussing and alcohol craving in social drinkers, in the future an improved care of patients (e.g. by improving existing cue-exposure methods with optimized imagery) and, in the long run, a reduction of the relapse probatility are possible.
