简要总结
This study is a randomised controlled open-label trial conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of nurse-directed intervention on alcohol, craving and withdrawal severity among alcohol dependent patients availing treatment from the outpatient psychiatric department of PBMH KIMS. 104 participants will be selected according to the eligibility criteria and will be divided into 2 parallel groups. Participants of the experimental group will receive the intervention in 6 sessions , 1 session per week for 35 minutes. The primary outcome measures will be assessment of mean Beck depression score and mean craving score measured at 2 weeks , 1month and 2months by using Beck depression inventory and Penn’s alcohol Craving Scale. The secondary outcome measure will be assessment of withdrawal severity score measured at 2 weeks , 1month and 2months by using Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol- Revised .

入选标准
- •The study will include alcohol dependent patients • willing to participate • Of age 18 years and above • scoring less than 12 as assessed by AUDIT • receiving the session completely.
排除标准
- •The study will exclude alcohol dependent patients who will be having Concurrent presence of other substance dependence, suffering from any significant physical or mental illness requiring intensive medical/surgical management, undergoing any external counselling session and who will not receive the intervention completely.
