1. American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) physical status Iââ?¬â??II
2. Patients undergoing elective surgery under GA
3. Endotracheal intubation as definitive airway
4. Duration of surgery � 6 hours
5. Supine position
1. Patients with a history of pre-operative sore throat, asthma, chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease, gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD)
2. Oral or head and neck surgeries
3. Modified Mallampati Grade>II
4. Known allergies to study drugs
5. More than one attempt at intubation
6. Anticipated difficult airway
7. Traumatic intubation
8. Patients who are unable to sit or have cervical spine injury
9. Pregnancy
10. Morbid obesity (BMI >35 kg/m2)
