critically ill patients on mechanical ventilator and analgosedation for at least 24 hours
- requirement of catecholamines (Epi/Norepi >= 0.1 µg/kg/min)
- unlimited intensive treatment for at least 2 days
- informed consent
- pregnancy
- History of unobserved circulatory arrest
- refusal of intensive care treatment or life-prolonging measures
- drug therapy with oral antidiabetics, sulfonamides, nicorandil
- Participation on another clinical intervention trial
- Persons with any kind of dependency to the investigator or employed by the sponsor or investigator
