Inclusion Criteria
1. Ethnic group: Tamil speaking Dravidians
2. Age < 28 days (either gender)
3. Clinically diagnosed sepsis with at least two screening tests positive such as mESR, CRP, CBC.
4. No antibiotic treatment before blood sample collection
Exclusion Criteria
1. Surgical procedures
2. Maternal history of infections, inflammations or antibiotic therapy before delivery
3. Apgar score < 6 at 5 min
4. Presence of congenital malformations.
