•Experience of a DSM-5 defined traumatic event in the previous two weeks
•Willing and able to provide written informed consent
•Between the ages of 18 and 64 years
•Able to read and write in English or Afrikaans at 5th grade level
•Current or past history of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or other psychotic disorder as defined on the MINI
•Any significant recent or previous severe head injury (defined as loss of consciousness for > 24 hours and/or post-traumatic amnesia) or mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI)
•Chronic use of any psychotropic medication at the initial assessment (reported by participant/ obtained from hospital files)
•Injury sequelae that would interfere with study participation according to the judgment of the investigator
•Cognitive impairment (determined by the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA)).
