- Brief Summary
Skin to skin contact refers to placing of naked infantprone on mother’s bare chest immediately after birth.Randomizedcontrol trialwill be adopted to assess the effect of ninety minutes versus sixty minutes of early maternal newbornskin to skin contact. Objectives of study areto assess breastfeeding behaviour at 60±12hours of age, exclusive breastfeeding rate at 60±12 hours of age, 6, 10 and 14weeks. 198 maternal-newborn dyad will be included in the study bythe consecutive, Non- Probability Sampling Technique. Data will be collected bythe use of self-structured tool and standardized tools after taking permissionand written consent from the participants. After data collection, data will beanalysed by descriptive and inferential statistics

Healthy neonates born at (equal to or more than)35 weeks by vaginal delivery and not requiring early resuscitation.
- Major congenital malformation(eg.
- omphalocele, gastroschisis, cleft lip, Cleft Palate, Upper Respiratory tract illness) which prohibits early SSC or breastfeeding.
- Maternal complication in immediate post-partum period Neonates requiring early resuscitation Mentally ill mother Mothers having any dermatologic morbidity over chest andtrunk which prohibit skin to skin contact.
