Brief Summary

This is the first study that compares the efficacy of the GlideScope and McGrath videolaryngoscopes in difficult airways induced by a cervical collar, and assisted by vascular forceps and a tube exchanger. Our results suggest that vascular forceps and tube exchangers can be helpful in the use of the McGrath videolaryngoscope.

Inclusion Criteria

We considered 60 patients, ASA physical status grade I or II, aged 18-70 years who were scheduled to undergo elective surgery, for inclusion in the study

Exclusion Criteria

Patients with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 35 kgm-2, those who were to undergo emergency operations and those expected to have difficult intubations were excluded
