Patients above the age of 60 years undergoing hip surgeries under spinal anaesthesia will be screened by a resident doctor for MMSE. (MMSE >25)
Age < 60 years
Patients with MMSE <25
Depression, Schziophrenia or Parkisonism.
History of Cerebrovascular accident, neurodegenerative disorders, cranial surgeries done, etc.
History of chronic alcoholism, substance abuse ( <4weeks prior to hospitalization)
Patients on neuroactive drugs or appetite stimulants
Patients with pronounced hearing or visual loss
Patients who do speak in common languages (other than English, Kannada and Hindi.)
Treatment with or corticosteroids or immune-modulators in previous 6 months.
