Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •Criteria for patients with schizophrenia who use tobacco in dependence pattern
- •1. Patients meeting the diagnostic criteria for Schizophrenia according to the International Classification of Disease 10 DCR; diagnosed for at least 2 years
- •2. Patients meeting criteria for tobacco dependence syndrome
- •3. Stable antipsychotic dose for last 3 months
- •4. Patients willing to give informed consent in either English, Hindi or Kannada
- •5. Patients between the ages of 18-60 years
- •Criteria for patients with schizophrenia who donâ??t use tobacco
- •1. Patients meeting the diagnostic criteria for Schizophrenia according to the International Classification of Disease 10 DCR; diagnosed for at least 2 years
- •2. Patients who have never used tobacco in dependence pattern and currently not using tobacco in any form
- •3. Stable antipsychotic dose for last 3 months
- •4. Patients willing to give informed consent in either English, Hindi or Kannada
- •5. Patients between the ages 18-60 years
Exclusion Criteria
- •1. Patients with comorbid neurological disorders (for example. Stroke, head injury, Parkinsonâ??s disease, or neurodegenerative disorders)
- •2. Patients with uncontrolled medical comorbidities
- •3. Other substance use in dependence pattern
