Inclusion Criteria

Criteria for patients with schizophrenia who use tobacco in dependence pattern

1. Patients meeting the diagnostic criteria for Schizophrenia according to the International Classification of Disease 10 DCR; diagnosed for at least 2 years

2. Patients meeting criteria for tobacco dependence syndrome

3. Stable antipsychotic dose for last 3 months

4. Patients willing to give informed consent in either English, Hindi or Kannada

5. Patients between the ages of 18-60 years

Criteria for patients with schizophrenia who donâ??t use tobacco

1. Patients meeting the diagnostic criteria for Schizophrenia according to the International Classification of Disease 10 DCR; diagnosed for at least 2 years

2. Patients who have never used tobacco in dependence pattern and currently not using tobacco in any form

3. Stable antipsychotic dose for last 3 months

4. Patients willing to give informed consent in either English, Hindi or Kannada

5. Patients between the ages 18-60 years

Exclusion Criteria

1. Patients with comorbid neurological disorders (for example. Stroke, head injury, Parkinsonâ??s disease, or neurodegenerative disorders)

2. Patients with uncontrolled medical comorbidities

3. Other substance use in dependence pattern
