Inclusion Criteria

1. Good German language skills
2. The patient is undergoing treatment for focal epilepsy at the University Hospital Freiburg
3. At least 50% of the study patients have a form of epilepsy that originates in the limbic system
4. The patient was diagnosed with epilepsy over two years ago

Exclusion Criteria

1. Lack of informed consent
2. Pre-existing psychiatric condition that is not associated with the patient’s epilepsy
3. IQ < 70
4. Lack of ability for self-introspection

Primary Outcome Measures

A qualitative description of patients’ experiences with anxiety (including existential fears) in association with their epilepsy.
Secondary Outcome Measures

As a supplement to the qualitative methods, the following secondary endpoints will be investigated to enable the assessment of potential correlations with psychological, medical and social data : general demographic, biographic and clinical data; different forms of anxiety as derived from the assessments in the present study; psychiatric comorbidities; social isolation/loneliness; quality of life; locus of control, interoceptive sensitivity
