Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •Patients with acute respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation for at least three days or more admitted in an intensive care unit (ICU) of a tertiary care teaching hospital (AIIMS, New Delhi)
- •Patients who have been receiving mechanical ventilation for less than 12 hours before recruitment will be included in this study
Exclusion Criteria
- •1\.Patients suffering from neuromuscular diseases
- •2\.Use of neuromuscular blockade to facilitate mechanical ventilation
- •3\.BMI less than 18\.5kg/m2
- •4\.Obesity (BMI more than 30kg/m2\)
- •5\.Severe ARDS (as per Berlin definition)
- •6\.Previous chest wall surgery
- •7\.Pregnancy
- •8\.History of mechanical ventilation in the past 3 months
