•1. Healthy persons, 18-65 years of age reporting to the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Faculty of Dental Sciences, Bangalore with pain in posterior tooth.
•2. First or second premolar tooth of either jaw diagnosed as symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.
•3. Teeth that could be treated endodontically in one visit
•4. Intraoral periapical radiograph showing intact lamina dura andno periapical radiolucency and absence of anatomical obstacles like calcifications in the canals, and no anticipated procedural difficulties.
•4. Patients giving no recent history of any antibiotic or analgesic taken.

•1. Known hypersensitivity to diclofenac.
•2. Pregnancy or lactation.
•3. Patients with history of asthma or allergy to anti-inflammatory drugs.
•4. Patients with active peptic ulceration within the last six months
•5. Patients undergoing treatment with other NSAIDs or any other analgesics or corticosteroids during the trial period
