Altered grip strength predicts poor health, functionalimpairment and impairment in activities of daily living. Studies conducted onassociation of grip strength in severity, duration and disease progressiondemonstrated that Parkinson’s severity remained strongly associated with gripstrength. However no study has assessed the effect of grip strength on upperextremity function and activities of daily living. Hence this study intends toassess grip strength and functional activities in people diagnosed withParkinson’s disease. This study is a cross sectional study, to find the effectof grip strength on function and activities of daily living in 59 subjects diagnosed with Parkinson’sdisease that will be conducted in Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangalore,Karnataka. The primary outcome measures will be Jamar Hand Dynamometer,NineHole peg test and PROFILE PD.

- 1.Subjects with Clinical diagnosis of Parkinson Disease.
- 2.Subjects belong to Modified Hoehn and Yahr classification of disability, stage 1 to stage 3 Age of 50 years and above.
- 4.Male and Female 5.Subjects who follow simple instruction.
- 6.Mini-Mental State Examination score 24 or above.
- 7.Able to ambulate with or without an assistive device.
- 1.History of neurological condition other than Parkinson disease 2.Patient with complete auditory or visual loss.
- 3.Patient who are not co-operative.
- 4.People with pain and arthritis in the hands.
