Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\.Patients with acute poison ingestion, admitted in EMOPD, PGIMER, Chandigarh within 6 hours of poison consumption.
  • 2\.Patients without any contraindication for Ryleâ??s tube insertion (Contraindications include deviated nasal septum, cancer of oral cavity or throat, nasal polyps, nasal injury, nasal surgery etc.)
  • 3\.Patients /attendants willing to give consent.
  • 4\.Patients above 18 years of age.
  • 5\.In case of comatose patients gastric lavage will be done only after airway protection.

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\.Patients referred for further treatment after initial lavage from outside the PGIMER, Chandigarh.
  • 2\.Patients with Corrosive and hydrocarbons poisoning/ Volatile substance.
