The characteristics of both patient groups were comparable. The mean gastric volume of the candy group (0.43 mL/kg) was not significantly different from that of the control group (0.32 mL/kg). The gastric pH of both groups was similar. The procedure-difficulty score of the candy group was higher . The satisfaction scores in both groups were comparable. No complications were observed in either group.

1. Age not less than 18 years and not more than 70 years
2. ASA 1-3
3. Scheduled for esophagogastroduodenoscopy
4. Preoperative NPO according to standard international guideline
5. Understand Thai and agree to participate in the study
1. BMI > 30kg/m2
2. The patients with full stomach
3. The patients with ascites
4. The patients who have type2 DM
