The study includes all patients from whom bilateral panoramic radiographies were imported from external practices in the period 15th of March 2021 to 30th of September 2021 and who were over 18 years of age on the day of receipt.
Patients who were younger than 18 years old on the day their image data was imported.
Patients who do not bring panoramic radiography images taken in external practices to the dental clinic. Patients whose images contain digital markings. Patients with facial malformations. Patients with mixed dentition, in which permanent teeth are not yet in occlusion - with the exception of teeth 18, 28, 38, 48. Panoramic radiography with removable and fixed metal objects visible on them, such as dentures, glasses, earrings, etc., as well as panoramic radiography with metal appliances for orthodontic treatment or after maxillofacial surgery. This avoids metal artefacts. This does not apply to dental implants and fixed prosthetic work such as crowns and bridges. Images with severe malpositioning of the head and movement artefacts are also excluded, because they additionally influence the findings. Digital markings on the panoramic radiographies also lead to exclusion.
These measures exclude poor detectability due to superimposition of structures.
Panoramic radiographies with visible insets of metadata are excluded. This applies to patient or practice data as well as device labels.
The observers receive panoramic radiographies on which only the pure X-ray image is visible.
