Angiotensin II Infusion in COVID-19-Associated Vasodilatory Shock: A multinational, multicentre registry

To expand our understanding of the role of angiotensin II (ANGII, a new drug developed to increase blood pressure) in coronavirus infectious disease 2019 (COVID-19), we conducted an international study to assess the use of ANGII in patients with COVID-19 compared to patients not receiving ANGII. Critically ill adult patients who were diagnosed with COVID-19 and received ANGII were compared with COVID-19 patients not receiving ANGII. In one year, 132 patients were included (65 in the ANGII group and 67 in the non-ANGII group). During the first 12 h of follow-up, patients in the ANGII had a faster decrease in oxygen requirements and maintained similar levels of blood pressure. Hospital mortality was not different between the groups from a statisticla point of view. Within the limitations of such a study design, our findings confirm previous observations of a potentially positive effect of ANGII on blood pressure and oxygen requirements but no effect on other outcomes.

入选标准
- •Adult patients who are diagnosed with COVID-19 and receiving angiotensin II infusion or novel therapy. Control patients will be adults who are diagnosed with COVID-19 but not receiving angiotensin II infusion and novel therapies.
- •Angiotensin II group
- •1.Patients who are admitted to a participating centre; and
- •2.Diagnosed with COVID-19; and
- •3.Receive angiotensin II infusion.
- •Control group
- •1.Patients who are admitted to a participating centre; and
- •2.Diagnosed with COVID-19; and
- •3.Not receive angiotensin II infusion; and
- •4.Receiving vasopressor infusion; and
- •5.Matched to a patient from the angiotensin II group by:
- •a.Date of ICU admission (range of ± 2 days); and
- •b.Age (range of ± 2 years); and
- •c.Respiratory support at ICU admission (no support or only oxygen or non-invasive ventilation/high flow nasal cannula or invasive ventilation); and
- •d.History of hypertension (yes or no); and
- •e.Use of ACEIs or ARBs (use or not).

- •Patients will be excluded if they are less than 18 years of age.
