•1.Age between 18 to 60 years
•2.American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I-II
•3.Scheduled for surgeries in the supine position under general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation.
•4.Duration of surgery less than 3 hours.

•1.Patients already having upper respiratory tract infection or sore throat
•2.Patients already on steroids: inhaled or oral
•3.Patients already on analgesics
•4.Patients with anticipated difficult airway with more than 2 attempts at intubation
•5.Patient with history of bronchial asthma
•6.Patients with nasogastric tube
•7.Patients undergoing surgery of: oral cavity, head and neck, thyroid, tonsillectomies and cervical spine
•8.History of allergy to the test drugs
