Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •1\. The individual must be a family caregiver of an individual with a Visible Difference (VD).
- •1\.1\. â??Family Caregiverâ?? refers to a parent (biological or adopted) or partner (in a committed marital relationship for \> 6 months).
- •1\.2\. Individuals with a Visible Difference are identified as those who have a temporary or permanent physical appearance that is different to the societal norm.
- •1\.2\.1\. The condition causing the difference in appearance (VD) may be acquired or congenital.
- •1\.2\.2\. The difference in appearance (VD) may be caused due to one of the following aetiologies: skin conditions, congenital diseases, trauma and medical and/or surgical treatments
- •1\.2\.3\. The difference in appearance (VD) must not be such that it restricts the physical movement (locomotion) of the individual or their basic self\-care needs (bathing, dressing, etc.)
- •1\.2\.4\. The difference in appearance must not be such that it requires immediate surgical intervention.
- •2\. The individual must have English proficiency at a conversational level, and be able to read at a minimum of 4th\-grade level.
Exclusion Criteria
- •1\. The individual must not have (currently or in the past) a VD as defined above.
- •2\. The individual must not currently be diagnosed with any severely limiting, debilitating or terminal illness.
- •3\. The individual must not currently be diagnosed with any mental or behavioural disorder as per the ICD\-10 (F00\-F99\) and must not be under pharmacological/psychological treatment for the same.
