1. The individual must be a family caregiver of an individual with a Visible Difference (VD).
1.1. â??Family Caregiverâ?? refers to a parent (biological or adopted) or partner (in a committed marital relationship for > 6 months).
1.2. Individuals with a Visible Difference are identified as those who have a temporary or permanent physical appearance that is different to the societal norm.
1.2.1. The condition causing the difference in appearance (VD) may be acquired or congenital.
1.2.2. The difference in appearance (VD) may be caused due to one of the following aetiologies: skin conditions, congenital diseases, trauma and medical and/or surgical treatments
1.2.3. The difference in appearance (VD) must not be such that it restricts the physical movement (locomotion) of the individual or their basic self-care needs (bathing, dressing, etc.)
1.2.4. The difference in appearance must not be such that it requires immediate surgical intervention.
2. The individual must have English proficiency at a conversational level, and be able to read at a minimum of 4th-grade level.
1. The individual must not have (currently or in the past) a VD as defined above.
2. The individual must not currently be diagnosed with any severely limiting, debilitating or terminal illness.
3. The individual must not currently be diagnosed with any mental or behavioural disorder as per the ICD-10 (F00-F99) and must not be under pharmacological/psychological treatment for the same.
