Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Age \> 18 years of age
  • American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I\-III

Exclusion Criteria

  • Patients requiring inotropes
  • Patients allergic to dexmedetomidine or propofol
  • Patients with bradycardia(baseline heart rate \< 60 beats/min) or uncontrolled hypertension
  • Patients who could not be extubated within 24 hours
