The study will be carried out in two phases.
In the 1st phase:
Objectives:
1) assess the knowledge on menstrual health and self-reported hygienic practices followed during menstruation by the adolescent girls .
2) assess menstrual discomforts faced by the adolescent girls.
3) assess the beliefs regarding menstruation among the adolescent girls
4) explore the beliefs of the mothers of adolescent girls having poor belief regarding menstruation.
In 2nd phase:
1) to develop and validate technology-based menstrual health intervention package (T-MHIP)
2) find the effectiveness of T-MHIP in terms of changes in the knowledge, self reported hygienic practices, menstrual discomforts and beliefs regarding menstruation among adolescents and knowledge and beliefs of mothers.
3) assess the acceptability and usability of T-MHIP.

入选标准
- •Phase I •Are studying in government schools from urban and rural areas of Gangtok district, Sikkim •have attained menarche and had at least two consecutive menstrual cycles.
- •For mothers: mothers of adolescent girls having poor belief regarding menstruation Phase II 1.with either low Knowledge, poor self-reported Hygienic Practices or negative beliefs regarding menstruation 2.availability of smart phones either with adolesnent girls or with mothers 3.accessibility and permission to use mother’s mobile phones.
排除标准
- •For Phase I: Adolescent who are not willing to participate in the study and who do not have parental consent does not stay with parents •are not available during the data collection period For phase II The study will exclude all adolescent girls
- •mothers and adolescent girls when not available during the data collection
- •who do not have smart phones.
