Brief Summary

All the patients who fit inclusion criteria will be randomly selected using computerised table to receive one ofinhalational agent (sevoflurane or desflurane) in combination with air in 50% oxygen formaintenance of anaesthesia. Once the patient achieves stable depth of anaesthesia withtarget BIS value 40-60, patient will be maintained in the same depth by titrating the endtidal concentration of inhalational agent. End tidal concentration and MAC value ofsevoflurane or desflurane will be noted. The study period is predetermined as the 1st 60 minutes after surgical incision as sometime is required to achieve steady state concentration and stable depth of anaesthesiawhich is usually after initial 15 minutes of induction. We will note pulse, blood pressure, SpO2,ETCO2, BIS, inspired concentration of inhalational agent, end tidal concentration of inhalational agent and MAC values every 5 minutesinterval throughout 1 hr of study period.MAC readings will be taken at after initial 15minutes of intubation till 60 minutes after surgical incision. Data will be analysed using appropriate statistical methods.

Primary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
To compare bispectral index associated MAC values between sevoflurane andIntraoperative parameters (Hemodynamic parameters, BIS, MAC etc) will be noted after 15 minutes of induction for 60 minutes at every 5 minutes interval
desflurane inhalational general anaesthesia for better understanding of changes inIntraoperative parameters (Hemodynamic parameters, BIS, MAC etc) will be noted after 15 minutes of induction for 60 minutes at every 5 minutes interval
MAC values.Intraoperative parameters (Hemodynamic parameters, BIS, MAC etc) will be noted after 15 minutes of induction for 60 minutes at every 5 minutes interval
Secondary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
1.To determine Bispectral index associated Minimum Alveolar Concentrationvalues of Sevoflurane and Desflurane.
