简要总结
Need for the study:
Psoriasis is a chronic, immune mediated, inflammatory and non contagious skin disorder and have bimodal age distribution peaking at 20-30 years and 50-60 years. Chronic plaque psoriasis is the most common presentation of psoriasis , accounting more than 90% of cases.Globally, the prevalence of psoriasis varies from 0.1% to 3%,with 100million cases as per new WHO report 2016.
The prevalence of psoriasis in India varies from 0.44% to 2.8%, with equal distribution across all regions.
One third of patients with Psoriasis have a positive family history, associated with human leukocyte antigen(HLA-cw6). Psoriasis is associated with serious health complications like arthritis, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes. Besides this it also lead to psychological distress like low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, social embarrassment, and risk of suicidal thoughts which complicates effective disease management.
In the Organon of Medicine (6th edition, §187–190) ,it clearly emphasizes that external manifestations like skin diseases are a reflection of internal disorders and must be treated internally rather than through mere local applications. Kent’s Repertory follows deductive logic, moving from general to particular. According to Kent, mind is prior to the body.
The constituents in the rhizome of Iris versicolor contains starch, gum, tannin, volatile oil, approximately 25% acrid resinous matter, isophthalic acid, and traces of salicylic acid. The resinous fraction also includes phenolic glycosides, which are believed to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, thereby promoting the production of bile, saliva, and sweat. Traditionally, American Indians used the root as a poultice for swellings, sores, wounds, bruises, ulcers, and even to reduce freckles. In homeopathic literature Iris versicolor is clinically indicated in psoriasis.
Due to lack of clinical evidence evaluating the effectiveness of individualized homoeopathic medicine using Kent’s Repertory and insufficient evidence on therapeutic efficacy of Iris versicolor in psoriasis, this study aims to assess the effectiveness of Iris versicolor and individualised homoeopathic medicine selected using Kent’s Repertory in management of plaque psoriasis.
NULL HYPOTHESIS : There may not be a significant difference between the effectiveness of Iris versicolor and Individualized Homoeopathic Medicine selected using Kent’s Repertory in management of plaque psoriasis.
ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS : There may be a significant difference between the effectiveness of Iris versicolor and Individualized Homoeopathic Medicine selected using Kent’s Repertory in management of plaque psoriasis.
