1. Prehypertensive males aged 18 to 22 years (SBP 120 to 139 mmHg or diastolic BP (DBP) 80 to 89 mmHg)
2. Sedentary lifestyle, defined as having less than 1 hr of regular exercise training per week
3. Parents' history of HT was defined as treatment for essential HT (stage 1 or 2) for at least 2 years
Participants were excluded if they were (1) current smokers; (2) taking any medication that might influence cardiometabolism; (3) had musculoskeletal limitations to physical exercise; (4) had any psychiatric problems; or (5) had been on a weight loss diet in the previous 6 months.
