Inclusion Criteria
Volunteers with type 2 diabetes mellitus; of both sexes; aged from 30 years old; who are
registered and are monitored by the basic health unit
Exclusion Criteria
Volunteer with type 1 diabetes mellitus; who are not registered or are not monitored by the basic health unit

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Greater therapeutic adherence and a reduction in acute complications are expected in users with Type 2 Diabetes mellitus in Primary Health Care, using the behavioral intervention of guidance through telephone contact. The following instruments will be applied to users in both the control and intervention groups in the first evaluation at the Basic Health Unit: Self-Care Activities Questionnaire for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, Health Literacy 14-item Health Literacy Scale Questionnaire (HLS-14 ), Treatment Adherence Measure Questionnaire (MAT), Food Frequency Questionnaire (QFCA), International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and Brief Medication Questionnaire (BMQ) and after six months these same questionnaires will be applied again in the group intervention and control to verify whether the behavioral intervention was effective.
