Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •Preterm infants more than 28 weeks of gestation and less than 35 weeks of gestation. And showing signs of clinical jaundice and/or elevated trans-cutaneous bilirubin (2 mg below phototherapy threshold and above) or elevated serum bilirubin ( at or above phototherapy threshold ) warranting phototherapy admitted in NICU, department of paediatrics, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal

Exclusion Criteria

  • •<28 and >35 weeks of gestation
  • •Conditions that could interfere with TCB measurements such as
  • •Congenital malformations
  • •Hydrops fetalis
  • •Diffuse cutaneous conditions
  • •Neonates requiring exchange transfusion
  • •Critically ill preterms
  • •And age more than 21 days of life.
  • •Bilirubin levels not warranting phototherapy.
